The Daniel Lord Collection

The Daniel Lord Collection has been the inspiration of the past two displays from the University Archives and Digital Services department. In December, a few of the Christmas themed materials of more than 500 items from Daniel Lord SJ (1888-1955), ranging from children’s pop-up books, coloring books, and pamphlets were showcased. The Christmas spirit embodied the whole display from conception to finished product. The exhibit was a wonderful collaboration between our departments with Special Collections, Research and Instruction and many others, which helped to make the display great. This spirit and collaboration was carried through to Valentine’s Day.  Kate Perko, our student in the Digitization Center, was excited to work on a Fr. Lord Valentine’s Day display. However, we needed a space for the exhibit, and so Jenny Manning from Circulation and Information Services graciously moved her “Damaged Book” display temporarily to make that happen.  Our Valentine’s Day display shined with Fr. Lord pamphlets on love and marriage, combined with a few campus life pictures from our Fr. Luke Photo Collections. The pamphlets and photos used were a combination of originals and duplicates.

New materials and projects like these are continually being added to our Digital Collections. Take a look by visiting the Digital Collections website at http://cdm.slu.edu/cdm/.
