New Lo Family Quiet Study Area

New Lo Family Quiet Study Area Opens in Medical Center Library

With the generous support of the Lo Family Foundation and the SLU School of Medicine, the Medical Center Library is pleased to announce enhancements to the quiet study area at the east end of the library facility.

Developed with input from students and faculty, the new layout features study desks with built-in task lighting and electrical outlets, cubby storage spaces, and comfortable seating.

Four study enclosures allow for distraction-free, focused study. Electrical upgrades and other updates have been made to support the new quiet study area. New window blinds were installed as part of the renovation of the quiet study area.

The Medical Center Library plans to continue similar updates throughout the library to create a quiet, comfortable environment for study and research.

Current students have praised the latest improvements to the library. Ryan Cleary, President of the MD Candidate Class of 2017, remarked, “An updated layout with new furniture and more options will make it much easier for us to concentrate and work effectively.”

“Dr. Daphne Lo (School of Medicine Class of 2011) and her family have once again made a strong commitment to the Medical Center Library at Saint Louis University,” said Patrick McCarthy, Associate Dean of University Libraries and Director of the Medical Center Library.

“When I met recently with Dr. Lo to share our update plans, she observed how proud she is to be associated with SLU’s School of Medicine and our student-centered focus,” McCarthy added.
